Online Learning
Online learning has really taken off over recent years in two main ways. Firstly through the use of online learning environments that universities and colleges provide. These virtual online environments provide a point of contact amongst students and between staff. These environments make it easy for students to ask questions, or allow staff and teachers to alert their class of changes such as a cancelled lesson, or the need to bring certain equipment for a last minute change of plans.
Other advantages these environments offer are examples such as coursework submission. It is often easier for students to upload their work online than it is to locate a printer and hand in a physical copy. It also eliminates the excuses and allows for plagiarism to be discovered through the use of computer software’s.
The other reason for online learning to have increased so rapidly is because it really is a great way to encourage learning. Using the internet makes it easier for students to find information, share it and interact with it. There are hundreds of websites online with example questions and games which are all provided in an attractive and exciting way. It is proven that learning and information retention is far higher when the students are engaging with the content, so this is what online learning aims to achieve. Most colleges and universities are therefore encouraging online learning and setting up these virtual learning environments in order to keep up with their competitors and make most effective use of the internet.
